MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Excitement for Tiger basketball has energized the city of Memphis, and fans have responded by purchasing over 13,000 season tickets for the 2006-07 campaign, Director of Athletics R.C. Johnson announced Wednesday. The Tigers, ranked No. 14 in both national preseason polls, have 16 regular season contests scheduled for FedExForum.

"We are very fortunate at the University of Memphis to have strong fan support for all of our sports," said Johnson. "Men's basketball at the U of M has a long tradition of being one of the hardest places for a visiting team to gain a victory and that is partially due to Tiger fans packing the house at each home game. This year will be no exception, and I would personally like to thank our Tiger fans for buying season tickets."

The Memphis Athletic Ticket Office has sold 13,306 season tickets, with only Terrace Level packages remaining. The two Terrace Level packages available are $100 ($6.25 per game) and $195 ($12.20 per game), and no donations to the Tiger Scholarship Fund are needed. No season tickets remain for the Plaza and Club levels.

Fans can purchase season tickets through Nov. 15 by calling the Memphis Athletic Ticket Office at 678-2331 or by visiting the department's athletic web site at gotigersgo.com. Last year, Memphis sold 13,259 season tickets.

The Tigers open regular season play Nov. 16 against Jackson State at FedExForum. Game time is 7:00 p.m. (CT).
