Charges Dropped Against Memphis Players
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Prosecutors have dropped charges against two University of Memphis basketball players from a dispute outside a nightclub last year.
District Attorney General Bill Gibbons says Shawn Taggart and Jeff Robinson completed an eight-week anger management program and performed well in school, and prosecutors agreed to drop the charges of disorderly conduct and inciting a riot. They will have to pay court costs.
Taggart and Robinson were charged after a Sept. 2 scuffle at a Beale Street nightclub. After the incident, coach John Calipari temporarily set a curfew for players and banned them from nightclubs.
