Reader Asking About (Former) Tiger Recruit Will Bogan
I first wrote about Will Bogan on March 27, 2006.
Stories began to surface that Bogan, then a junior from Bell City, Missouri, had accepted an offer from Calipari to attend the U of M in the 2007-2008 freshman class. Subsequently, very little was ever heard about Bogan thereafter. At the timr, Bogan, a 6-10 290 pound center, was not ranked by any of the major recruiting services which makes one wonder about his ability for a school that saw its program elevate considerably during the past two years. Early on it was considered that Bogan had been a very late bloomer and had only played organized basketball for a short amount of time.
Not really knowing what might of happened, I opine that Memphis rescinded the scholarship offer to Bogan for some reason. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding and Cal never really had made an offer.
Bogan played his freshman year for Southeast Missouri State and is currently listed on their roster for next season as a 6-10, 300 pound Sophomore.
The following is from the SE Missouri website on Bogan:
Prep: Ranked No. 6 prospect in Missouri and a two-star recruit by Rivals.com ... first team all-state and Co-Southeast Missourian Player of the Year after averaging 22.2 points and 14.7 rebounds per game as a senior ... played for Class 1 state runner-up in 2006 and 2007 ... averaged a double-double as a junior and senior ... scored 42 points vs. Jackson in Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament championship game at the Show Me Center ... coached by Brian Brandtner.
Personal: Born 8-27-88 ... son of Barbara Fisher and William Bogan ... majoring in Business Administration ... favorite NBA player is Shaquille O'Neal ... favorite singer is T-Pain ... also recruited by Memphis, West Virginia, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, Virginia, Missouri State, Tulane, Arkansas State and Akron.
