Two U of M Basketball Players Arrested
Last Update: 9/02 6:50 pm
Memphis Tigers head basketball coach John Calipari has said it before: "Nothing good happens after midnight." Unfortunately, Calipari had to say it again Sunday after learning two of his players, Shawn Taggart and Jeff Robinson, were arrested early Sunday morning.
Taggart and Robinson were involved in a fight outside a Beale Street nightclub. Both players were charged with inciting a riot and disorderly conduct. Robinson was additionally charged with assault-bodily harm. Taggart and Robinson are due in court Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
Calipari addressed the media at 2 p.m. Sunday. As of that time, he had yet to speak with either Robinson or Taggart. Calipari said he was waiting to learn more information before deciding on disciplinary action.
Calipari did say he met with the rest of his team Sunday morning and informed them that there were now two new team rules: 1) Players are no longer allowed inside night clubs and, 2) There will be a daily curfew, between 11 p.m. and midnight.
