Nobody else seems to want to address it, so I will...what is the fascination that Memphis Tiger basketball fans have with Andre Allen and Kareem Cooper? After watching the Tigers win over Ole Miss this past Saturday, I can honestly say that I just don't get it. Why does everybody seem to think that Allen and Cooper are all that? Allen is out of control 90% of the time he's on the floor. He's perfected the "drive" part of the drive and dish offense, but once he gets into the lane it's like he freaks out. Allen is shooting 33% from the field and only 19% from behind the 3-point line. If that's not bad enough, he's hitting a ridiculous 38% from the free throw line. And, he needs to shave that stupid beard.
As far as Cooper is concerned, his game just doesn't make sense to me. Here's a 6' 11", 290 pound mountain of a man who's playing like Pee Wee Herman. Twice in a row - on the same possession - during the Ole Miss game, Cooper got the ball down low...down low as in two feet from the goal...and instead of rising up and throwing down a thunder dunk, he tried to do some sissy little layup. Twice! On the same possession! Wouldn't have been so bad had he made one of them, but both times his attempts were swatted against the backboard by Ole Miss' Jeremy Parnell. Coop, you're 6' - freakin' - 11" tall...dunk the damn ball! You're playing like Woody Harrellson. Grow a pair and play like a man!
